Elias Aravantinos

Mr. Elias Aravantinos holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Technology from the Patras Polytechnic, Greece, 1999 and an MBA in Information Technology from Oklahoma City University, 2004. He is currently a Ph.D. Candidate at the Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, NJ, Howe School of Technology Management.

Elias Aravantinos is an Adjunct Lecturer at Queens College’s Economics department since Fall ’06, teaching Principles, Intermediate Macro, and Economics of Distribution and Marketing. He also used to teach Internet Marketing and MIS in the Media Management Master’s Program at Metropolitan College of New York in Manhattan, NY. Summer 2005 - Fall 2006.

Elias is also a Project Manager at the Columbia Institute for Tele-Information. He joined the Institute in 2004 as an RA, and has been working closely with the Director Eli Noam - Professor Economics and Finance - on the project “Ultrabroadband Networks: The Next Frontier”.

He is also the Co-Editor of Professor’s Noam forthcoming book “Ultrabroadband Networks”.

Mr. Aravantinos is an active ICT business consultant for more than 5 years with extended experience in systems integration and network management, security services and global infrastructure solutions, project management services and information systems design. He has collaborated with the following institutions and companies:

• Thales-Avionics, Paris, France, 2001-2003

Recently in 2007, he started up his consulting company – ExelixisNet (www.exelixisnet.com). The current projects and collaborations are:

• Home Networks online courses development with NIIT, New Delhi,India

• Macroeconomics online course development with WWnorton for the new intermediate macroeconomics textbook authored by Chad Jones - University of California.

• Telecom advisor of the European Institute of Law, Science and Technology, Greece

• Member of the Program Committee of the 17th ITS Biennial Conference, Montreal, Canada, June 24-27, 2008

Currently he is pursuing his Ph.D. in Technology Management with an emphasis on Telecommunications. His research area focuses on “Technology projections and innovation forecasting, with a specific focus on the mobile wireless diffusion across countries, social implications and the policy impact”.

Mr. Aravantinos is active in the field, presenting papers in numerous academic conferences. His paper “Dynamic Macroeconomic Model for the US Telecommunications Industry”, with Dr. Fotios Harmantzis, proceedings of the 4th Global Conference on Business and Economics, Oxford, England, June 2005 was the 2nd most downloaded paper from the FCC Economists for February 2005. He has given several presentations at Columbia Business School, AT&T and academic conferences.

He served his duties in the Greek Military Navy as a non-commissioned officer, 1999-2001
