Ljupka Arsova
Ljupka Arsova is a member of the EILST environmental team engaged in the issues of waste management and climate change.
Currently she is a Master of Science candidate in the program of Earth and Environmental Engineering at Columbia University in the City of New York. Ljupka is a Junior Research Associate at the Earth Engineering Centre at Columbia University. She is working on organic waste management and acceleration of the reactions in the anaerobic digestion reactors as part of her master thesis. Her special interests relate with the application of biotechnology in solving environmental problems and also renewable energy sources.
Ljupka has received a bachelor degree (recognized as a Master Degree under the Bologna Declaration) in Ecology and Environmental protection from the University Of Belgrade, Serbia. For her graduation thesis she studied Innovative technologies in waste management.
After the graduation and before starting the MS studies she worked for a year and a half for DEKONTA d.o.o. in Belgrade, Serbia, as an associated engineer in the departments of waste management and site bioremediation. She got involved in projects from the Official Development Assistance program of the Government of Czech Republic. Her duties included implementation of the project activities, data collection and analyses as well as preparation of project proposals.
She also holds a Young Masters Degree for Young Environmental Leaders from International Institute for industrial Environmental Economics, Lund University, Sweden. During her master studies she took courses in microbiology and environmental biotechnology with special concentration on its application in gaining energy from biomass.
She speaks Macedonian, Serbian and English.
